Dynamic sites use data files
to determine the content of the page being seen
by the web surfer. For example; the price shown on
the page will be determined by what price is stored
within the sites data file/s.
By providing page content which
is generated "on-the-fly", the web site can dramatically
increase in traffic due to the increased usability.
Although
many dynamic data functions are usually provided via
the use of ASP, much of the straight forward application
of dynamic sites can be created by using client-side
JavaScript.
Client-side JavaScripts
can provide the following:
- Shopping Carts
- Order Form Cookies
- Variable Pricing
- Products by Category
- Single Source Updates
A great example of a statically
hosted Dynamic Site is 1M1
Records. Which is hosted on an Economy level
web site, saving $300 per year in fees, while also
saving $2500 in initial development costs by avoiding
the use of ASP, plus saving on each months data consumption.
